USATF National Junior Olympics Cross Country Championship Results
A group of young athletes representing the Lanier Running Club competed in the USA Track & Field National Junior Olympics Cross Country Championships on December 13, 2008 in Richmond Virginia. The athletes qualified for the National event by successfully competing in the State and Regional level events.
Competing in the Intermediate Girls 5K were Kelsey Neukum (21:01) and Cara Martin (22:34) from Chestatee High School, Stephanie Martinez (24.10) from Flowery Branch High School and Ansley Lawson(25:10) from North Hall High School.
Competing in the Intermediate Boys 5K were Ty McCormack (16:56) and Cody Barger (18:14) from North Hall. Brett Mullins (19:40) from Chestatee HS competed in the Young Men's 5K.
Nike Cross Nationals Southeast Cross Country Championship Results
A group of young men from Flowery Branch High School represented the Lanier Running Club at the Nike Cross Nationals Southeast Cross Country Championship meet on November 29, 2008 at Cary, North Carolina.The team placed 18th in a very competitive field of teams from across the Southeast. Team members are Maurice Riden (16:31), A. J. Clendennin (16:48), David Farist (17:01), Jeffery Velez (17:02), Kenny Slavik (17:05), J. T. Orr (17:31) and James Lambert (18:14). All team runners were members of the Flowery Branch High School team that won the AAA Boys State Cross Country Championship.
USATF Region 3 Junior Olympics Cross Country Championship Results
Hall County athletes excelled at USATF Region 3 Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships in Richmond, VA on Saturday, November 22, 2008. Nine of the Lanier Running Club athletes that qualified for the USATF Region 3 JO XC Championship last week at the Georgia Championships participated Saturday.
Kelsey Neukum from Chestatee High School won the Intermediate Girls 5K individual championship in a time of 20:36. She led the girls' team to a first place finish for the team. Other members of the championship team were Cara Martin(22:18), Chestatee High School, Patrice Sweet(21:22) and Ansley Lawson(22:53) from North Hall High School and Stephanie Martinez(23:58) from Flowery Branch High School.
Ty McCormack, North Hall HS was runner-up in the Intermediate Boys' 5K competition in 17:09. Cody Barger(17:25) from North Hall finished 9th. Brett Mullins(18:53) from Chestatee HS competed in the Young Men's 5K finishing 16th.
All the Lanier Running Club high school age athletes qualified for the USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships in Richmond, VA on December 13th.
Brianne Truelove(19:07), North Hall Middle School, competed in the Youth 4K race.
Lanier Running Club runners excel at the Georgia 2008 Cross Country Junior Olympics
A team representing the Lanier Running Club participated in the USA Track & Field 2008 Cross Country Junior Olympics Georgia Association Championships on November 15, 2008 at Winston, GA. The team consisted of 8 girls competing in 2 age divisions and 18 boys competing in 3 age divisions. Medals were presented to the top team (minimum 5 runners) and the top 10 individuals in each age group. Lanier Running Club runners won 3 Team Medals and 9 individual medals. All runners qualified for the Regional Meet on November 22, 2008 in Mechanicsville, VA.
